In Memory of Slim by Danny Peacock.

Slim used to spend most of his time sitting in the tunnel as it is usually the warmest place. Though always sleeping or appearing to be dozing, he liked it if someone stopped to talk to him. He mostly liked to talk about Scotland and his foreign holidays. We did the first drama sketch together. Slim surprised us all as we thought he was quiet and reserved but he really enjoyed taking part in the drama group. We had a standing joke, quote ... "Have you as my daughter? - not on your Nellie! !". This was after I had played the part of Delilah and Slim the Baron in a pantomime. We had to keep an eye out for him as he would come tearing round the corner, but he would do anything to help you if he could. He always made copies of our videos for us and visitors were always made welcome in his flat. We rehearsed in his flat in the early days of the drama group. When Angie Beeby worked here we would fight (friendly of course) for her attention to put us to bed. Slim had a good sense of humour once you got to know him. Wendy has already said how we feel. I just want to say we do miss him, especially in the dining room when we would get a whiff of his hot curries, his roll mops and his salt and pepper flying everywhere. We won't easily forget Slim; he was different - he was special. It is nice to see Mrs Bruce when she visits the Home, I hope she will continue to do so and not forget us.
